5 ‘Weird’ Microsteps to Help You Out of a Funk
What could happen if you dip your toe into the pool of possibility?
I was off work for the summer, having resigned from a stressful position in June. I permitted myself to enjoy my time without the pressure of work deadlines or job searching (even though I did go to one job interview in midsummer).
I am happy with my decision, and I had a wonderful, carefree holiday with a new love interest, lots of family time, road trips, festivals, and friends visiting from out of town.
Then came September; the love fizzled out, friends and family members returned to work, and I faced the job search.
I was sure I’d have no problem finding a job by the end of the month, and the first week was great; I sent out five resumes. This might not seem like a lot to some, but writing cover letters and researching the jobs takes time. I wanted to choose wisely.
At the beginning of the third week, looking for a position I would like had become increasingly challenging, and the motivation to send those resumes was wearing off.
Who are we kidding here? With no routine in place and nowhere specific to be in the morning, my days turned into nights, and nights carried over into days. I was staying up late and getting up…
